GNYCBNA

Activities

NBNA serves as the professional voice for over 200,000 African American registered nurses, licensed vocational/practical nurses, nursing students and retired nurses from the USA, Eastern Caribbean and Africa.

GNYC-BNA is one of 115+ chapters providing countless hours of community-based health care services.

NBNA Day on the Hill takes place each year in February in Washington, DC. GNYC-BNA nurses attend and make appointments with their local congressional representatives to advocate for the NBNA policy agenda set forth. Join us nurses as we advocate for the changes we want to see in our communities!

GNYCBNA Nurse LEAD (Leaders in Equity and Diversity) Program team. LEAD is a high school nurse pathway program that is funded by Johnson & Johnson. The year-long project offers 10th and 11th graders mentorship, hands on skills training, and leadership skills which will help inspire them to choose a career in nursing.

Each year, our GNYCBNA Women’s Health (formerly Black Maternal Health) Committee organizes and hosts a Black Maternal Health conference in NYC to provide community education and awareness about maternal mortality that disproportionately impacts Black women. We partner with our local stakeholders for engaging panel discussions and simulations, as well as commit to a “Call to Action” to prevent maternal morbidity and mortality.

National Black Nurses Association 2023 “40 and Under Awardees” at the NBNA National Convention in Atlanta, GA. The Under 40 Awards honor and celebrate NBNA members who are 40 years old and under who have shown strong leadership and are significantly impacting the nursing field.
